I am a hard-core fan of Microsoft Windows Minesweeper (in XP). I have been playing since 5 years. Unfortunately there weren’t enough Here are my best, and my high score screen. This is all I could do in five years. Post your scores below, if you are also a fan of it.

  1. I’d love to see the 80 sec … I used to be an avid player and I was very good way back then on win 95 … my time then was 94 sec as I can remember also intermediate was 30+ and the beginner was 3-4 sec (pure luck) … needless to say my best score now is 160+ 😦 I guess if u leave it u lose it

my technique is very simple …
    a. uncover the 4 corners first
    b. never try to figure out difficult cells (the maybes) just move on … in time there were some combos …
    c. don’t waste time to uncover the obvious ones…

simple .. and I need to get back in shape … (which I really doubt) not sure whther it’s the mouse or the speed of the computers nowadays … 😦

  3. My best time on expert is 79 sec.

The trick is instead of clicking each square individually that you know is not a mine, you should move your cursor over the number (which has every mine touching it marked) and click both mouse buttons simultaneously. This will clear all other non-mine squares adjacent to that number.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Hats off to you all.

On this computer my best score at expert is 112 seconds. I think I had a 104 on a previous computer. And once, when I was visiting my parents I got a 91; however, it was four in the morning I was drunk and- despite the fact that best times had me listed at 91 seconds- I always thought there must have been some lock-up or glitch in the computer that somehow gave me an extra 20 or 30 seconds. Who knows?

I’ve been using a tablet for a couple years and, while my average times have slipped to the 140’s, I finish more puzzles than I used to.

  5. I was stuck on 108 seconds for AGES.
then all of a sudden i got 89

i was so surprised. I didn’t believe it at first. I wasn’t even trying that hard. Maybe its that moment of unconscious ‘zen’ or some bullshit. But yes, definitely cant beat this one again.

  6. I’m obsessed by Minesweeper but not time challenges, instead I start with the largest grid possible and gradually increase the number of mines whenever I’m successful.

I’ve been going up in 5’s for years but since cracking 195 a few years back I’ve been stuck on 200.

The closest I ever got was down to 2 final squares. A 50/50 shot and I guessed wrong. My pride won’t let me accept that.

Must be something about the desktop games though, I played Freecell until I got 100 wins in a row and have vowed never to play it again, I think I’ll do the same when I beat 200 on Minesweeper.

I believe I may be a little insane.

  7. It can be beat it under 80 seconds with no cheating I swear. My usual time is in the 90-100 second range for expert, but I happened to beat it in 79 seconds recently.

    My best times:
    Beginner: 4
    Intermediate: 26
    Expert: 79

I’m just a bored college student with too much time on my hands and a little bit of an obsession with logic games.

    It can definitely be done.
